... yeah it's definitely going to take me forever to finish this meme. Oh well. That's ok.
Day 8: Hardest Final Boss Battle
Ashera. I don't even have to think about this, really. Some of the other final bosses were mildly annoying (such as FE7's Fire Dragon, with its three-range 37-HP damage attack, or Formortiis' "put every single unit on my team to sleep"-spell [which later ended up not mattering since I realized I could one-turn him with Eirika and Ephraim, but still. It happened once!]), but nothing really comes close to Ashera's sheer meanness. Heck, she's one of the few final bosses in the series who manages to be incredibly annoying even after you learn all the tricks she's got up her sleeve. She does very different things on each turn, can attack from both the physical and magical side of the spectrum, has infinite range-attacks, has AoE-attacks which damage your entire party, and if you ever manage to survive four turns against her, she'll silence everyone on your team on her fifth turn.
Seriously, just. Wow. Ashera is ridiculous. So ridiculous that I actually accepted the fact that Rafiel died on my first playthrough of the game and Ena on the second, because honestly, I just couldn't think of a good way to play around her crazy attacks (and also because both characters retreat instead of dying story-wise, thankfully yes, it matters!). I didn't beat her without taking any casualties until my third time through the game.
Oh, and also? If it hadn't been for the fact that I looked it up on the internet beforehand, I probably would have never guessed that Ike needed to deal the finishing blow. I probably wouldn't even have noticed that her auras were either on defense or resistance tiles. So, here's a tl;dr-version: Ashera is a jerk. :(
Day 9: Least Favorite Level
Uh. Can I just say "all desert maps ever"? The movement penalty is already bad enough, but that's not all. A lot of desert maps have other annoyances for you to deal with.
FE4? The gigantic maps in this game makes moving around painful enough even without deserts everywhere, thank you. Might be a bit of an exception since FE4's maps are, well, generally annoying, but Seisen has you making sure Shanan and Patty don't die on one half of the map, with the other half being you trying to figure out how the heck you're supposed to save Leaf, Nanna and Fin. And slowly moving Celice's army across the desert. Yay. FE6? Have fun playing through a fog-of-war desert map where you also have to protect Sophia, one of the most frail units in the entire game. FE7? Good luck with meeting those gaiden requirements without tons of Ninian/healer-abusing. FE8? ... actually, FE8's desert map is pretty ok. FE9, on the other hand... normally it would be a pretty straightforward chapter, but then there are the bonus experience requirements. No killing any enemies with the sole exception of Muarim! Joy. And as for FE10... you're stuck with one of the weaker armies, and if you thought your fliers could help you rout it faster, well, think again. It's full of archers - especially ones with crossbows. And also enemies with long-range magic.
(And no, the treasure does not make up for it. Then again, I usually neglect to collect most of it, but. It's just not worth it!)
A dishonorable mention to chapter 23 in PoR and 3-11 in RD. Pitfall traps and ballistae everywhere. Ugh. It's extra annoying in RD, because one of the enemies might place down a light rune to block your only way through the map - meaning that you have to ferry over all of your grounded units to the other side with your fliers. Which, of course, takes forever. Sure, you can prevent it using long-range magic tomes, but it's pretty impossible to predict the first time it happens.
Um... yeah... that's probably enough whining about video games for one day. Although this is, strangely enough, giving me the urge to replay FE10 again. That sounds like a good idea! And the last time I played PoR was like 3 months ago. It has clearly been way too long since I played one of the Tellius games
