So Day 3's question really isn't overly interesting, but I'll go ahead and answer it anyway.

I've always thought it was odd that the Fire Emblem had such a small role in most the games, honestly, and I can't even remember if it was ever mentioned in FE4. My least favorite incarnation of it, however, would probably be the one from FE7, given how unimportant it is to it's overall plot. I mean. The game doesn't even mention what it does. It's just a family heirloom of some kind? Obviously, it's of great value to the royal family of Bern, but it doesn't exactly have any of the magical qualities I've come to expect from ~mysterious emblems~ in fantasy video games. Idk. The fact that it's mostly unremarkable is kind of a nice break from that kind of thing, I suppose.

I think I'm going to go with FE9/10 for my favorite, actually (how unexpected!). The game plays up the Fire Emblem as housing an evil goddess of death and destruction, but when she's finally released, she turns out to be freedom-loving and childish - which I'm pretty sure is a twist which doesn't really happen in any other FE game. And besides, I like Yune! Especially her "meatbag"-insults. Maybe it's because it reminds me of KotOR. (Now I'm imagining Yune as an evil murderous robot. what.)

As for what I would do with it... I... I don't know? Maybe I could have Yune inhabit the body of someone I dislike so that they could stop bothering me? No, that sounds a little too evil. I think.

Since the above section is kind of uninteresting, I've also decided to write about some research I'd done on something I've always wondered about. I've seen a lot of people claim that, in the Japanese version, Heather says she "joined the army because of the pretty girls". Supposedly, this line was removed in the English version.

I looked through the scripts on Pegagusknight and failed to find any line of the sort, though I did find a somewhat interesting change in Heather's boss conversation with Yeardley:

English: Heather:
Tsk... Don't get so steamed up, Mr. Fancypants!
You just look silly.
Nothing personal...
I just don't like men like you!

Japanese: [ヘザー]
あら……すっかり逆上しちゃって。
やめといた方がいいのに。
私は女の子以外には
優しくないわよ?

Translation (probably not 100% accurate, but.): [Heather]
Oh my... you sure look completely flushed.
Even so, [I'd (?)] better stop.
Except for towards girls,
I'm not a very kind person, huh?

It's probably nothing too amazing, but I recall seeing a comment somewhere a pretty long time ago where someone was disappointed Heather didn't just state she hated men outright. The Japanese version makes that a little more obvious, imo (just in case there are still people out there who believe Heather is totally straight! or something).

I've always been wondering about my weird habit of going on Pegasusknight just to translate dialogue from a language I barely know anything about (grammar doesn't count), but, well, at least I'm not alone in comparing the English and Japanese versions? Speaking of which, the comparisons on that Japanese fansite also make it pretty clear that NoA hates ellipses (rather unsurprising, since I've seen a lot of people who share their sentiment). To be honest, though, I don't really mind those changes - a lot of the English dialogue is snarkier/funnier than in the original, which isn't something I'd complain about.

I have to admit, I'm still not done with my fan art-hunt. Though I am a little annoyed by how hard it is to find good fan art of Soren being, well... himself. Girl!Soren or Kittymaid!Soren? Everywhere. Art of snarky jerk!Soren? Very rare. I'm kind of curious as to why OOC-ness in art is more tolerated than it is in fan fics. Maybe I should just be viewing it as crack. It probably is crack. (I would rectify this myself, but I still haven't gotten a tablet yet and I've yet to get over my crippling fear of drawing male characters I like. What kind of weird fear is that supposed to be, anyway)
