professor_tammiSo this is actually a tumblr meme, taken from here, but I'm too lazy to create a tumblr account so I'm posting this on my LJ instead. (And besides, I don't really know how people manage to post at several places at once. I can't seem to do that. I always just hang around one place at a time.)
I actually found out about FE a fairly long time ago, as some members on one of the forums I frequented had FE avatars at the time, so I got curious and looked up the series on youtube. One of the first hits was the battle between Ike and the BK, so I suppose that would have been my rather spoiler-ific introduction to the series. I went on to watch Ike and Soren's as well as Ilyana and Mordecai's support conversations, at which point I decided that I really, really wanted to play the game and that I should probably stop spoiling everything for myself.
Since I had never played an RPG besides Pokémon at the time, my first reaction upon seeing the gameplay - levels, hitpoints, experience and all - was "this is just like Pokémon!". Seeing how story-heavy it was (in fact, it seemed to be even more story-heavy than Pokémon, which I didn't even think was possible because clearly Pokémon is the pinnacle of video game storytelling) only made me even more intrigued. (... um I honestly can't help but to wonder why it took so long for me to learn that RPGs were an entire genre. Or that there were games with actual storylines. But I digress.)
For some reason, though, I forgot all about Path of Radiance, possibly because I didn't have the means to play it back then. It would take me another 4-5 years for me to be reminded of the series, as that was when I saw an LP of FE4. While I felt somewhat disappointed about the tiny amounts of inter-party character interaction in it, I was, for whatever reason, fascinated by the admittedly simplistic gameplay and the permadeath mechanic. So that was when I decided to buy FE9, which the LP reminded me of. Actually, the more surprising thing was that I still remembered most of the specifics from the videos I watched all those years ago.So I went into the game already shipping Ike/Soren.
Wow I didn't even think it would be possible for me to write something so tl;dr on a subject like this, most people could probably sum this up in a sentence. I think I might have a problem. With the tl;dr-ness. Maybe.No, more like definitely.
