So, about Japan...
Mar. 12th, 2011 09:07 pm(I wasn't planning on making any real life-related entries, but it feels kind of wrong to ignore this)
I'm not so sure about what I should say. The situation in Japan is horrible. I wish the japanese people the best of luck.
I would donate, but I'm 17 and don't have a credit card, so I'm unsure of whether it's at all possible for me to do so over the internet. Probably not. Gah. I would really, really like to donate something, though... I think I'll look around for one of those places which allow for donation by phone. Umm. If I can find any.
I've seen plenty of people comment on how horrible it is that there are persons who care more about their favorite anime/manga/video game creator's wellbeing than about the fact that thousands of people have had their lives ruined, but... I'm not all that surprised. I can't really bring myself to get mad at some of these comments, either. I mean - if someone outright states that they care more about the country's pop-culture than the people of the country, then yes, I can definitely see why that would be considered exceedingly selfish (and that's what I'd think of it myself, too; I understand why that would anger others!). But being more concerned for people you have some kind of personal attachment to than faceless masses? Not at all unusual. Most of the people who have actually been affected by the tsunami and earthquakes are probably thinking about their friends and families first and foremost, as well. The situation is a little different here, but... I don't think someone wondering if their japanese idol (or whatever) is okay means they don't care about the rest of the country. It's just the first thing their minds would jump to.
Um, I'm not sure if I got my point across without sounding like a complete jerk because this kind of thing is really easy to misinterpret. :( But hopefully I did?
